Gemeinsam die Vielfalt retten

Eine Million Arten sind laut Vereinten Nationen vom Aussterben bedroht. Daher startet SPAR nun das Sechs-Punkte-Programm, „Gemeinsam die Vielfalt retten“. Unter anderem mit Schwerpunkten zum Bienenschutz, der Erweiterung der Sortenvielfalt und dem Ausbau des Bio-Angebots soll die Biodiversität und somit auch ein breites, einzigartiges, vielfältiges und regionales Lebensmittelsortiment an außergewöhnlichen Spezialitäten bewahrt werden.

Monokulturen, der Einsatz von Pestiziden, die Abholzung des Regenwaldes, die Überfischung der Meere und die Klimakrise haben dazu geführt, dass weltweit Arten, Lebensräume und Ökosysteme in dramatischem Ausmaß bedroht sind. Das Problem: Auch in Österreich sind viele für den Menschen wichtigen Arten vom Aussterben bedroht.

In diesem Sinne ergreift SPAR folgende sechs Maßnahmen:

1. SCHUTZ DER BIENEN: SPAR gründet einen Bienenrat mit Experten aus Wissenschaft und Praxis, um Bewusstsein für die Bienengesundheit zu schaffen und gezielt Projekte zum Schutz der Biene zu fördern.

2. ERWEITERUNG DER SORTENVIELFALT: In Kooperation mit dem Verein ARCHE NOAH werden neue Eigenmarken-Produkte entwickelt, die das Bewusstsein für Sortenraritäten schärfen sollen.

3. SCHUTZ DER ARTENVIELFALT: Um der Überfischung der Meere entgegenzuwirken und heimische Fischarten zu schützen, entwickelt SPAR sein verantwortungsvolles Fischsortiment weiter.

4. BEWAHRUNG ALTER TIERRASSEN: Der SPAR-eigene Fleischbetrieb TANN unterstützt vermehrt Landwirte, die auf alte Tierrassen setzen – wodurch die Vielfalt im Fleischbereich ausgebaut wird.

5. VERBOT VON GLYPHOSAT: SPAR setzt sich weiterhin vehement für ein endgültiges Verbot von Glyphosat ein. Stattdessen sollen alternative Pflanzenschutzmethoden gefördert werden.

6. AUSBAU VON BIO-PRODUKTEN: Die Ausweitung des Angebots an Bio-Produkten und Produkten aus biodynamischer Landwirtschaft wird forciert.
